Several years ago affiliate marketing was the best new thing. It was super easy to get high on the search engine results pages (SERPS) with a few spammy techniques and very easy to get on the first page for Adwords ads. When google changed its alogorithm for Adwords and for the SERPS, many people got hurt. Lots of campaigns were shut down thanks to the “Google slap” so to speak. Lots of affiliates with pages high on the SERPS had to work harder to get back onto the first page of Google.
The point of this story is that it used to be super easy to make a buck with affiliate marketing. It was easy to get lots of visitors to your site, and lots of people to buy the products you were advertising. Now it is harder to get that traffic and get those sales. But does this mean affiliate marketing is becoming over saturated?
